In unity, we find strength. In unity, we find purpose. In unity, we make a difference.

When students and teachers return to the classroom in Louisiana this fall, the décor will be a little different. Public schools in the state are now required to display the national motto “In God We Trust” in all classrooms.

As this new law demonstrates, when Christians unite, we can overcome barriers, effect change, and ensure our values remain woven into the fabric of society.

We live in a world that often highlights our differences, but our strength lies in unity, not division.

This unity is at the heart of ecumenism, a concept familiar to Christians.

The call for unity resonates throughout Scripture. Paul asks us to be “one in spirit and of one mind” (Philippians 2:2).
As we witness the resurgence of unity in movements like the return of “In God We Trust” in schools, let us recognize this as a manifestation of ecumenism in action. When we put aside theological debates and personal agendas, we can rally behind a common cause strengthened by our shared values.

Effective ecumenism requires more than just agreement; it requires action. It requires us to rise above divisions, to stand firm as soldiers of faith. Amid the noise of the world, we must focus on what truly matters—the cause of Christ. Let’s align our desires with God’s desires, remembering that we are citizens of heaven, heirs of the Kingdom.

We can overcome the mundane and transcend the forces that seek to divide us.

Our faith walk is not meant to be a solitary stroll—it’s meant to be a collective effort, a journey we embark upon as one. Let us come together as soldiers, as heroes of faith, to reclaim our nation, our communities, and our lives for Christ.

In unity, we find strength. In unity, we find purpose. In unity, we make a difference.

United We Stand. One Nation Under God.
