A BIG Lesson Learned
As we wrap up SWC 2024, I am filled with gratitude and awe. This event wasn’t just a gathering; it was a journey of faith that offered lessons at every turn. It taught me about resilience, the power of community, and the unyielding strength of faith.
Reflecting on the challenges and victories, I’m reminded of a well-worn quote by Napoleon Hill that I keep by my desk: “Burning desire backed by faith knows no limitation.” This phrase has aged on paper, but its truth was vividly alive throughout the organization of SWC 2024.
We started with nothing but a divine command to move forward—no volunteers, no venue, no capital. Yet, what seemed impossible was made possible through steadfast faith and a collective outpouring from the body of Christ.
Our journey was not without its trials. Personal setbacks from health issues to logistical nightmares tested our resolve.
But even when circumstances pushed us to consider surrender, we chose to push forward. As we did, we witnessed miraculous turnarounds—resources appeared, people stepped up, and attendance soared from 232 to over 410 in the final 35 days!
However, the greatest lesson came after the event. In a conversation, Leray Heyne was talking with me about the importance of rest and reflection. I said to him, “I finally got this car up to 60 mph. Why would I stop and have to start all over again? I need to keep going!”
With a smile, he said, “Who got the car to 60 mph?”
It was a humbling reminder. It wasn’t my efforts alone that had carried us to this point; it was God’s hand guiding and providing all along.
If God is the builder, then the foundation is secure. Jesus Christ, the solid Rock, is the base on which we strive to build not just our businesses but our lives. If business is human-made, it will not stand beyond what you pour and continue to pour into it, and when you stop, it will fall. This event has reaffirmed that building on a solid foundation doesn’t just prevent collapse; it frees us.
