A Radical Promise for Uncertain Times

The shutdown may slow Washington, but it cannot stop the Kingdom.

There’s no shortage of voices telling me what I should do during the government shutdown—how the Christian Chamber should act, what to say, and what kind of advice I should give.

I appreciate it, but this moment calls for something different.

You can find business advice anywhere.

What we need now is spiritual discernment, not more noise.

We need meat, not milk.

We need godly wisdom, not just good strategy.

We need the mind of Christ—and a courageous community of believers who refuse to shrink back when the world shakes.

Some will wonder what I’m talking about—and I understand. Radical and promise don’t usually appear in the same sentence as shutdown and uncertainty.

But 1 Corinthians 2 reminds us that God offers something astonishing—access to the mind of Christ. That’s the promise I’m talking about.

As the federal government shutdown stretches into its second week, it’s impacting workers, small businesses, and the economy in ways that ripple far beyond Washington. Airports are short-staffed, government agencies dark, contracts on hold.

Add to that the unrest in our cities, the political volatility, and the grief that still lingers from the assassination of Charlie Kirk less than a month ago, and it’s easy to feel the pressure mounting on every side.

Yet in times like this, the call of God’s people is not panic—but prayer.
Philippians 4 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

The result is not the immediate end of chaos but “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding.”

That peace doesn’t come from Washington, Wall Street, or even our business forecasts—it comes from the Spirit of God. And 1 Corinthians 2 tells us that through that Spirit, we have access to “the mind of Christ.”
What a radical promise in uncertain times!

When the world spins with confusion, we can discern what others cannot. The truths from God’s Spirit may sound foolish to those who don’t believe, but to the spiritual, they are the key to clarity, courage, and divine strategy.

Our trust is not in political structures but in the unshakable Kingdom—a call to engage with clarity, courage, and deep rootedness in the Spirit.

This moment is not just political; it is deeply spiritual. The shaking we see across government, culture, and business is revealing what is built on sand and what is built on rock.

Christian business leaders must rise—not as reactionaries, but as reformers. This is the time to build networks of faith-driven enterprises that strengthen both the economy and the soul of our nation.

At the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce, I see it every day: business owners using prayer as their first strategy meeting, building companies on biblical principles, and banding together to shine light in dark times.

We are not called to sit on the sidelines, wringing our hands. We are called to activate—through prayer, connection, and excellence in the marketplace.

When governments falter, Spirit-led innovation rises.

Historically, the greatest Kingdom movements have emerged from seasons of shaking. When the world tightens, the Church expands. When systems fail, Spirit-led entrepreneurs create new ones.

Look at the early believers in Acts: persecution scattered them from Jerusalem, yet the gospel spread faster than ever.

Or think of Joseph, who used divine insight to feed nations in the middle of famine. What seemed like collapse became innovation.

Crises have always been incubators for revival—and this moment is no different.

Our upcoming SWC 2026 Global Conference & Expo in Orlando is being designed exactly for such a time as this—an activation event for believers in business. It will be an immersive, catalytic experience where the Spirit, strategy, and community converge to equip leaders for what’s next.

We are building an infrastructure of Kingdom commerce from the ground up: prayer, divine strategy, stronger businesses, stronger networks, brighter light, saltier people, transformed cities.

If ever there was a time for courageous leadership, it’s now. We need CEOs who pray before they post, managers who minister through their work, and entrepreneurs who create not only profit but purpose.

The world needs to see what it looks like when faith goes to work.

The shutdown may slow government, but it cannot stop the Kingdom. The radical promise still stands: we have access to the mind of Christ.

So in this moment—ask, seek, knock.

Pray with expectation.

Lead with conviction.

Build with hope.

And if you need someone to stand with you in prayer, our team is here. Reach out anytime at prayer@uschristianchamber.com

Stay steady. Stay Spirit-led. Stay connected.

When the world shakes, the people of God don’t sit still—they build.
