One Story Can Save Every Nation.
This Independence Day feels different.
As our nation begins celebrating 250 years of American independence, my inbox has been filled with stories about our Founding Fathers, the signing of the Declaration, Paul Revere’s midnight ride, and the extraordinary courage it took to establish a new nation.
And rightfully so.
Two hundred fifty years is worth celebrating.
But this week, another thought has stayed with me.
We often marvel that we can know so much about the events of 1776. We can visit the places, read the documents, study the lives of those who shaped our nation, and pass those stories from one generation to the next.
Then I paused and thought…
How incredible is it that we know the story of Jesus?
More than 2,000 years have passed since His birth in Bethlehem. We know about His miracles, His teachings, His death on the cross, and His resurrection. We know about Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, the prophets, and the early Church—not because technology preserved those stories, but because God did.
Generation after generation faithfully copied Scripture, translated it, protected it, and shared it so that today we can open God’s Word almost anywhere in the world.
What an incredible gift.
Here in America, we have another gift that is easy to overlook.
We have the freedom to read that Bible.
The freedom to pray.
The freedom to gather in churches.
The freedom to build businesses guided by Biblical principles.
The freedom to openly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Those freedoms should never be taken for granted.
So, as the fireworks light up the sky this weekend, I hope you’ll celebrate more than America’s birthday.
Celebrate the God who has faithfully preserved His story through the centuries.
Celebrate the men and women whose sacrifices helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.
And remember that freedom is not merely something to enjoy—it is something to steward.
May we continue building businesses, serving our communities, raising faithful families, and living courageous lives worthy of the opportunities we’ve been given.
